Using the Divine Remnants together would open a portal to the Empyrean Realm, which was the home of the gods (the BBEG wanted them to seek vengeance against the gods) and so the party had to get to them first.ġ) the Nemean Armor: magic armor that grants the wearer invulnerability.Ģ) the Epirus Bow: a magic bow that creates unlimited arrows from an explosive energy, and never misses.ģ) the Exodus Key: a magic key created by the thieving god Mask. Each Divine Remnant was created by the most powerful of Gods to be heralded by champions of their respective classes. It’s a lot of story but when we ran it it worked really well.Īs Griffin created the Grand Relics based on the schools of magic, I actually created “Divine Remnants” for my campaign, based on the basic classes. ![]() The Orchestrion took the form of a music box that her brother gave her when they were young. She then decided she had enough of being Fate’s plaything and decided to try to change Fate by becoming a God, which she did.Įach of the relics took the form of something important to the gods. She did everything she could do to stop it from happening but Fate found a way. Years later, she saw a disaster where her brother died saving someone from a fire. She and her brother constantly lived on the run, running into disaster after disaster but never able to stop them. She was born with the ability to see disasters happen but she could never stop them. Tyd was an orphan along with her brother. That god could exert their will through that relic but they were otherwise somewhat nerfed.įor the Orchestrion, the god linked to it (named Tyd) took the party on a journey through time and basically showed them her origin story. One difference was that these relics were each linked to a god trapped in another plane of existence. Party had to go find X Artifact in Y setting. Long story short, my campaign had some striking similarities to Balance. I hope to see others share their own original relics, and any help improving my own relic would be much appreciated. I got inspired with this idea when I came up with my changeling character, and seeing that their shapechanging is limited to humanoids of similar anatomy, their deepest desire when creating the Relic would be to become whoever or whatever they wanted to better fit into society. On some recorded occasions, this realization of complete lost identity causes the user’s shapeshifting to become more monstrous, until they finally become a mix-matched amalgamation of some or all of their previous forms. However, the longer the user wears the mask and transforms, they slowly forget details of themselves until they can no longer remember their true form or who they are. When worn, the user is able to transform into an exact copy of any humanoid or creature they’ve seen in person while wearing it, while also gaining any abilities or memories of the thing they’ve copied. I’m a few episodes away from finishing the Balance Arc of the Adventure Zone, and I’m so interested in the concepts of the Grand Relics that I’ve wondered if anyone else has created their own idea of a relic.įor me, I’ve come up with “The Shape-Shifting Mask” or “The Mask of a Thousand Faces.” It is a plain white mask with no eye or mouth holes, but the user can still see. ![]()
